Hi,
I was wondering if you had a plan to add back the scene with Jaime saving Brienne from the bear in Season 3?
This scene seems like a defining point moment for both characters.
😃

Hi, I understand why some of you would like that, but from a film-structure perspective the scene doesn’t work for me. It feels more suited as a ā€œDeleted Sceneā€ or, naturally, as part of the series itself.

My reasoning:

a) Brienne despises Jaime because she views him as dishonorable—a kingslayer. Once his true story comes to light, her hatred begins to fade, replaced by compassion for the man he reveals himself to be: a reluctant but genuine hero. This shift in their dynamic becomes the new connective tissue for their relationship moving forward.

In this context, Jaime saving Brienne from the bear isn’t essential. It doesn’t carry the same fundamental weight as his earlier act of saving her from rape, which is a far more critical turning point. The bear scene therefore risks redundancy—it reinforces Jaime’s compassion and heroism, but it doesn’t add anything vital to the storyline.
