Any fans of Akira Kurosawa? I believe that both Dave Filoni and George Lucas shared in multiple interviews how they are huge fans of old Samurai movies, among other things and drew inspiration from them when coming up with cinematography, narrative themes etc.

The Jedi episode clearly payed homage to Akira Kurosawa and other Japanese directors: https://youtu.be/wuWFRIViGKQ

Ronin in Visions is very Kurosawa inspired.

It was so close to Seven Samurai i was like holy crap.

Plus, its very Yojimbo like in its Mifune Esque Ronin Sith.

And its strange that a Sith is the good guy, well its Legends and not canon.

Absolutely! Kurosawa’s influence is undeniable, especially in Star Wars. I see it in the pacing of certain scenes and the stoic nature of some characters. It’s fascinating how deeply ingrained these influences are. Speaking of letting off some steam after contemplating such deep cinematic connections, sometimes I just need something mindless. Have you ever tried the game Solar Smash? It’s strangely satisfying after thinking about artistic intent and nuanced filmmaking!
