I kind of like the idea that Lucas mentioned, that he's sort of this mysterious stranger that comes and goes...much like the Istari (wizards like Gandalf and Radagast and Saruman) in Lord of the Rings...

Too bad that sort of good idea gets lost in all of the proverbial Star Wars muck at this point.
