Hello all, I’m rather new here but have been lurking for a while. My name is Dan Stokes.

I am wondering if you guys think that it would be possible to reconstruct the 70mm version of ESB.

From what I know, the differences are the audio track, the wipes, and the shot of the falcon at the end. Now I imagine the wipes could be handled, and the audio track could be recontructed from the SE and the Story of Star Wars ESB, which uses the 70mm track and contains the alternate han and luke takes at the beginning and the alternate takes of Leia on the falcon and in cloud city.
The biggest problem I see is that I do not know of a source for the scene when the Millenium Falcon is docked to Home One and the camera pans to the medical ward window. Does anyone know of a sourse for this footage?

Also, IMDB states that “In the original theatrical release of the movie, after Luke is taken out of the Bacta tank, the medical droid is seen taking a sort of mask off of Luke’s face.” Is this true? did this scene actually appear or was it cut before the actual release?

Apparently, the mask scene exists. If I remember correctly, it's seen during the end credits of the "Empire of Dreams" documentary. Obviously, a cropped and re-sized MPEG2 is not exactly pristine quality, but somebody could possibly get it to work. As for the others, no idea, I'm afraid...
"The things that stick in my mind and make me laugh were, like, memos worried about whether or not the Wookie should have pants. They're looking at this thing and saying, "Couldn't he have some lederhosen?" This is great. Of all the things to worry about, the Wookie has no pants." -Mark Hamill
