Dang… I’m sorry to hear that you were disappointed with Season 2 and that you’re struggling with it in regards to your second film. I had actually finished the series yesterday and came here to see if you had started work on a second film. lol.

Also, good to see that a finished definitive version of your first film is now released!

Well, as much as I dislike a lot of stuff with Rings of Power - the stuff they do well when you remove the fluff is brilliant.

I’m way into the works on my Film II, and I blame my OCD.

WHAT HAVE I DONE?
The Ancient Lore
Kenobi: A Star Wars Story
Harry Potter Revisited
Game of Thrones Film Edits
Titanic Restructured
… and more.

Is it/Future edits of this still on the Google Drive you gave me years ago for your Harry Potter fan edits? Because I also thought I saw you remove the original version of the rings of power edit here?

Thanks for the movie , this version is much better , chronologically consistent within itslef (hard to make it consistent with canon). Unfortunately I don’t think it could be improved a lot further since content of series is subpar.
Imho , I think a version

  • With Very minimal Galadriel , Gandalf , Arondhir and no hobbits may even be better (what’s left 😛)
  • A short introduction at the start of movie possibly with some AI help about Morgoth ,Valinor , Numenor etc may be nice.

Thanks again for the hard work

Hi!

I had created my own edit of Season 1, then cut that edit down a great deal, as I planned to join Seasons 1 and 2 into a single film. Eventually, I stopped working on it because I ran into issues with the editing quality (since I based my second edit off the completed first one) and didn’t have the motivation to start over from scratch. Maybe I’ll pick it up again at some point.

Based on some of what I read, I think we had some similar ideas, though I opted to remove the Harfoot entirely, with the possibility of creating a separate movie if there was enough good material from Season 2—which there really wasn’t. Maybe a “Wizards of Rhûn” film might be better, beginning with Gandalf (it just had to be him) doing his thing in the East and mostly ignoring his story from the first 2 seasons.

So what is the difference between this version and vranir’s version?

Mortals receive the divine gift of intellect, the potential for wisdom; but they misuse it to destroy the beauty of creation. Mortals do not succumb to evil, they are the evil; they create it and spread it with minds they shouldn’t possess.

Good question. There’s a lot that matches between my edit and this one. Anjohan and I actually went back and forth contributing ideas to each other in PMs while creating/fine-tuning our edits.

Anjohan’s edit set itself apart early by being very tightly focused. His opening prologue, for instance, was amazing, and mine is very closely modeled after it. My use of a Sauron vision to open the second film and direct Galadriel toward Eregion is also directly lifted from something Anjohan did.

Overall, Anjohan’s edit has evolved to experiment with/solve the story in more radical ways than mine has. For example, in the current version, I believe he has moved the creation of the three Elven rings to the prologue of the story, with the intent of making them less tied to Sauron and more in line with the books.

My edit, meanwhile, maintains more of the vanilla storyline, but with more of a focus on chronology/trying to line up day/night cycles and keeping plot threads feeling in-synch, even if they technically aren’t. I also keep the Harfoot story as a main thread (even the heart of the series), where almost every other edit reduces them significantly as a grudging side story.

“Less tied to Sauron” he was after the rings of power of I’m not mistaken. I know he obviously had the nine rings, didn’t he also have all dwarf rings as well?

So your edit differs by keeping the same but in a more chronological set? 😯

What I mean by that is that in the Silmarillion, the Elven rings were created by the Elves as their own idea in order to counter Sauron’s rings. In the show, they were created first under Sauron’s inspiration and at his suggestion but without his literal involvement. Anjohan decided to experiment with keeping the book’s approach but still have the Elven rings come first; in his most recent version, the Elven rings basically inspire Sauron to make the other rings.

My edit keeps the show’s order of events, but changes the order of scenes to synch things up in ways that I think feel more natural. We both trim what we consider unnecessary filler and awkwardness, but not always the same things. Anjohan trims more Harfoot stuff; I trim more of the Southlands. We both trim a lot of the Numenor preparations in season 1. We also both use similar micro-trims to make Galadriel less argumentative. Anjohan keeps the use of tunnels to channel water into Mount Doom; I cut that out and imply that the sword-key acts magically to erupt it.

I should also note that Anjohan’s edit currently is one movie that ends at the eruption, while also having the creation of the three rings and the opening conversations about Dwarven rings. My edit is two movies that cover all of season 1, as well as the Numenor, Southlands, and Harfoot stories of season 2. I have a partial edit of a third movie that is waiting on season 3 Harfoot/Stranger content to get filled out.
