Titanic 35mm scan

Hi everyone!

I’ve been a long time lurker here and love all the 35mm projects you guys are doing. I have finally created an account and I am excited to announce that I will have my own 35mm scan project!

I’m a huge fan of Titanic and have been disappointed with the home releases over the past few years, especially with the SFX tweaks and AI stuff.

I have recently borrowed a print from a collector and had the print professionnally scanned. It’s a good print. Here is a sample of the scan.

I’ll be working on the encode and hopefully will have it finished this year. I will be doing some clean up and will remove any splice marks.

If you’re interested in eventually donating to the project once the encode is done and to get a copy, let me know.

James Camera found out about the 70mm Print of Titanic that was playing here in Sydney and got it locked away since he doesn’t want that version(?) to be seen.

I’m telling this because I want this project to not get deleted, cuz one of Cameron’s people might see this and get it taken down like our 70mm print.

The sample mistitan posted above isn’t a 70mm print. I did see a 70mm screening in Leicester Square on release and wonder why Cameron would want that version pulled? I have my own notions but can’t be sure.

Thanks Clark for the insight! That’s some crazy stuff. I’d be careful.

mr_merrick, I think Clark was just generally speaking about the fact that Cameron doesn’t want the 1997 version to be available. I don’t think he was saying my sample is from a 70mm print. Any releases from the Blu-ray onwards have been the based on the 2012 theatrical 3D re-release version that contains some fixes and new color grading. What is your notion about why Cameron would want the old version pulled?
