Hello there!
I’m back with a new project!
The Five 1954 Superman films
As some of you may know (especially if you are a hardcore fan of Man of Steel), in 1954, a lot of episodes of The Adventures of Superman season 2 were edited into five feature-length films and distributed internationally by Twentieth Century-Fox.
These movies were to be shown only in those countries in which The Adventures of Superman TV series was not seen.
Fun fact: The final part of the introductory text ending with “the American way” was therefore changed to “humanity”.
Today not much is known about these films. We know they included some short extra scenes (to bridge the episodes) and that French, Spanish and Portuguese versions were made.
The titles and posters of these productions can be found on the internet, and we also know the exact episodes these features were edited from, but apart from that, there’s not much we know.
In what countries were they shown in theatres? Did they use the same music as the one used in the TV show?
You can read more about these films here:

The project
So, this project is basically about re-creating these long lost films. Turning 15 episodes into 5 movies.
I don’t wanna change or re-order too much, I just want to make it as close as possible to what people could watch in cinemas in Europe/Latin America back then. I’d like to re-create the cinematic experience from these films.
Unfortunately, the additional bridging scenes were never realeased, so I can only include the footage from the TV series.
Changes:
- Since these films were screened abroad as feature-length movies in theaters, and distributed by Twentieth Century-Fox, I’m gonna add the 20th Century Fox logo from that era.
- I’ll try to re-create the opening and end credits from “Superman and the Mole Men” for these edits.
- For Superman in Exile, since the TV episode used the same title, I will just use the original title card from that episode. No need to create a new one if we already have one.
- Some scenes might need to be trimmed/shortened to make transitions smoother.
- In some cases, I will try to re-order some scenes, not just combine three episodes and add transitions.
Dunno what the final outcome will be, but it will definitely be fun to try to craft these edits 😁
