I’ve been slowly watching this and am nearly done with The Clone Wars. Film 8: Destiny is next. Taking a small break to watch some arcs not included. As someone who’s only experience with the show was the first two episodes, I’ve been really enjoying it and have been able to follow everything going on. I can tell when one arc ends and another begins because there is no transition period of when, say Anakin leaves a planet to immediately getting a new mission so it’s not that immersive as a movie but I cant see anything bad about that.

Something I do have praise for is how you intercut the arcs. It gives it a real ‘A’ plot/‘B’ Plot feel. I think this most shines in ‘Eminence’ where you intercut the first Mandalore arc with the next one with Maul as a flashback. I feel it works really well. I was hoping the ‘flashback’ scenes would feed into the present day scenes because I didn’t know how Mauls plot would play out other than his revenge with Obi-Wan.

Speaking of, I did notice the music playing between Maul, Savage and Obi-Wan was a bit loud. It was hard to hear them talking. I’m guessing this was a edit choice and ‘that song’ didn’t play in the original episode.

I can’t wait to finish this and get to Rebels. I want to finish these animated shows and re-watch (and finish!) The Mandalorian and the other ‘New Republic’ shows and get more out of it!

Hey glad you’re enjoying them.

Yeah, exactly, in most cases with this source material we’re looking at unrelated arcs plot wise. But I think I managed to create an enjoyable experience by tying them together through theme, and intercutting in such a way that you get the illusion of things happening simultaneously or characters moving from one event to another. “Eminence” is a more explicit example of that, with the B plot being a flashback - and the only time I experimented with that. That allowed me to reframe the film as an Obi-Wan AND Maul story, and better setup the direct stakes, politics and setting for their final encounter. Maximum emotional impact seeing all Satine’s major content in one film - in the show that’s a mix of season 2 and 5 content.

Yes, “that song” is something I’ve already revisited once to tweak the audio balance. It’s an old edit and that balance is something I’ve been feeling my way into when adding soundtrack over the years. Often depends on the scene and what audio equipment you’re using whether it stands out so much.

Enjoy! Film 9 and Rebels are my favs. Mandalorian, BOB and Ahsoka follow very logically after CW then Rebels narrative wise. Will certainly give you a deeper appreciation.
