I don't want to wait forever with file sharing. I just want like a clip or two, not the whole thing.

That's the problem. If you see only a few clips, you won't see it in context. You will not get the proper "experience" that way.

Okay I'm watching it right now. I downloaded a crappy, crappy version from Blue Harvest.com and I'm 10:03 minutes in to the thing. So far I have rolled my eyes about 5 times, but I haven't been scarred yet.

Then again, the picture is so pixilated and tiny that I really can't see anything anyway. Maybe that is what is protecting me from the horriblness of it.

EDITS:

14:09 - nothing is more fun than watching the security footage of our favorite character's lives....

16:51 - oh I love how the guy was being all cryptic and sneaky (seriously, well done) with the Emperial guard there, and then blows it. "Your carpet is on it's way. *wink wink* [pause] You do know what I'm talking about Malla don't you?" Dear god...

23:01 - Whip stir, whip stir, whip stir!! Dear god, make it STOP!!! That guy is just getting a little to frisky with the food there.

29:50 - and now we are to Wookiee porn. Holy. Hell. I don't know if I can watch any more. My brother can hear my crying from the other room and now he is crying too. I...I don't think I can go on...

41:12 - my brother left, he got fed up, and now I'm just bored. Oops spoke too soon. Now Jefferson Starship is playing and apparently using a sex toy as his mic. Nice.

55:50 - The cartoon is pretty good. How uncharacteristically nice of Boba Fett to help out Luke and Han like that.

And now the rest of the story:

Okay, I now have seen this stupid special and well, yeah it sucked, but it ... well, I don't want to say that it made my skin melt, but now I have to cry. Nah, I'll get over it with time.

I have to laugh that Harrison Ford had the biggest role out of the three main characters. Now that is just a riot. Poor sap. Sure Luke got more dialogue in the little cartoon, but Ford had to suffer through a lot more live action sequences. He he he, sucker.
And Carrie's singing wasn't THAT bad. I mean, she's better than me.

Now that I've seen it, I'm left feeling hollow, confused, like I'd just been jail shower raped. But yet, I'm left wondering...did I like it?

The answer is no and I'm just rationalizing the whole situation. I think that I watched it on a 2 inch screen helped scare off most of the pain. Plus, fast forwarded through some pretty boring stuff. But that is an hour of my life that I want back.

Good. Your reaction was better than if you hadn't been warned. Yeah, I've seen that BlueHarvest copy, it isn't exaxctly the best way to see it. May I recommend the KCCI DVD for a better experience?

But still, can you understand even a little bit why I like it so much?

I put the Special on for my 4 yr old while my wife and I where putting up the X-Mas tree a few weeks ago, my wife asked me if the same people who made Bugaloos and Land Of the Lost made the show, then she said I thought the Ewoks lived in the trees, I said yea, but George Lucas thought Wookiees were too advanced to show living this way in ROTJ....

Maybe this was the reason he abandoned the idea for ROTJ, then changed his mind again and returned to it in ROTS...go figure.

Good old Lumpy.

What's strange is that he kept the look of Kasyyyk similar in ROTS to the way it looks in the holiday special. If he hates it that bad, he would have tried to remove it from continuity.

I really don't think that he completely hates it, as several authors have written books that involve Malla, Itchy, and Lumpy. (For instance, "A Forest Apart," which was the supplemental book to "Tatooine Ghost," involved Lumpy going to Coruscant with Chewbacca.) And the holiday special was even referenced in Star Wars: Galaxies, by showing Wookiees in red robes celebrating Life Day..

Isn't Itchy's full name Attachitcuk, or something like that? Because I think that was referenced in that crappy "Galactic Battlegrounds" game.

By the way, I tried to watch the Holiday Special yesterday, and I only made it a little ways past the part where the Imperial guys leave the Wookie home. I just couldn't take anymore.

Yes, his full name is "Attichitcuk." And yes, he is one of the main characters of Galactic Battlegrounds. It focuses on his early years when was a warrior, and you get to fight some of the battles he was involved in.

Hmm, I need to download The Holiday Special sometime. I've only watched the animated segment which is okay, except that Boba Fett is quite dull. "Friiiiieeeend...".

It is generally considered the highlight of the special, however. And Boba Fett fanboys have developed some sort of cult following around that segment.

However, ROTS only showed a very small portion of the planet, and it was by a lake. And Lucas himself has said that the Wookiees live in trees, so...

Aye, now I have watched it and I enjoy it, thanks to Rikter's generosity! I have fallen in love with the animated segment and watch it regularly now. The rest of the special is hilarious. My favourite scenes would have to be the holographic circus (mainly because of the music and Lumpy's facial expression), Harvey Korman as the chef ("HAVING FUN! HAVING FUN!"), Princess Leia on heroin (I laughed out loud the first time I saw her stumble towards the big screen) and the whole Cantina-sequence (Ponda Baba is one helluva dancer). Christ on a cross, that's what I call humour!

Yes. Despite what many say, it truly is quite enjoyable.

I love the HS, just cause it really shows what could have been Star Wars (ANH) without the talent of Lucas (at that time)...
