It’s just faulty color reference from v2.5.

Is there a separated polish audio file for 1977 version?

P.S. I know there’s a MKV file with this audio file but I’m looking for only audio file, I’m limited on storage space

PM sent. We actually have two Polish audio tracks – a voiceover-style dub and a standard dub, given that voiceovers are still very popular in Poland.

You guys have probably already seen this but I figured I should post here as well:

Totally understand that DeEd is now on hold. I love our fan restorations and DeEd in particular, but if this release is even half as good as it seems, fan restorations will become a lot more niche, if they continue to exist at all.

Things I’ll be keeping tabs on:

  • Does this new release cover both the 77 and 81 versions of Star Wars, as well as the 70mm and 35mm cuts of Empire?
  • Does this release feature original mono and surround audio mixes?
  • Are international markets getting the same treat we are? Lots of dubs and subtitles have only ever existed for the Special Editions, and would need to be remade to properly support the original versions.

If every answer is “Yes”, we’re all out of a (non-paying) job! If there’s any “No” answers, there may be room for smaller-scale niche restorations.

Thanks for your hard work with restoring the original Star Wars films! It got me into looking up many other fan restoration projects.

If you go to the first post in this thread (and other Harmy threads), there should be a link to HanDuet’s Guide (aka The Ultimate Introductory Guide, or so).
In that guide it explains everything.
If you generally know what you are doing, you might be able to skip to Section 4, Step 6. If not, you can read through the guide as it explains it all pretty well.

Hello,

I am recompressing both the video and audio of the v2.7 mkv file to make a smaller version, and I wonder about the english stereo track (which is the 2nd one, encoded in DTS-HD-MA): Handbrake identifies this track as “2.0 LtRt”, and proposes to convert it to either “Stereo” or “Dolby Surround” (with AAC codec).

“LtRt” is always a kind of magic to me and I don’t know what to do with that, knowing that I want this track to be played on a pure 2.0 setup. My guess is that no equipement will decode Dolby Surround in AAC anyway…

Also, it is really “LtRt” or is it a wrong detection by Handbrake? For, LtRt (or any kind of surround encoding) isn’t mentionned in the README file that comes with the mkv file, and it isn’t reported either by MediaInfo (which simply identifies a 2.0 track).

(addendum to the previous post)

It seems that none of the 2.0 english tracks of the mkv file are “pure stereo”: they are either “LtRt” (for the DTS ones) or “Dolby surround” (for the AC3 ones ), that is, all of them are matrixed… Maybe worth “manually” downmixing the 5.1 track to stereo in handbrake in order to generate a pure (LoRo) stereo track?

Hi, everyone!

I am new here. This looks like an amazing project. Thank you to everyone involved in this.

How do I get an invite to Mypleen website?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome.

Unfortunately you don’t 😦.
The good folks at myspleen have closed invites for years (decade?).
But as far as grabbing this particular project, take a look at the first post of this thread, there’s a link to the “Ultimate Introductory Guide” (now known as “HanDuet’s Guide”) which should walk you through the process.

Years ago I downloaded a copy of v2.5 and compared it to v2.7 just out of curiosity, And of course opinions are like bum holes (Everyone has one)

But I think a couple scenes have “the edge” in the v2.5 than v2.7, In v2.7 they can sometimes look a little bit overly “blue” but the grading absolutely better than v2.5 most of the time.

Time Stamps :
00:08:00 - v2.7 Leia looks a bit yellow,
00:22:41 - v2.7 Becomes a bit teal / blue looking,
00:55:43 - v2.7 Looks a bit overly brightened and blown out on alderan,
00:59:44 - v2.7 Looks slightly yellow in comparison to v2.5,
01:02:14 - v2.7 Looks washed out a bit, But v2.5 looks overly contrasted.

I’m going to stop here because I actually want to enjoy watching Star Wars again after not watching it for probably 8 years.

I’m not trying to pick holes, #“Where’s Wesley’s little Star Wars restoration” there isn’t and wont ever be one but yeah, Thank you for your years and years of hard work. #(This was a Ricky Gervais Show Reference)

I agree that Despecialized v2.7 isn’t perfect in it’s grading, but I think a lot of it comes down to the limitations of the source.

The colors on the 2004/2011 transfers are screwed up beyond belief. I actually watched a bit of the ANH Blu-ray on my TV recently for fun and wondered how I could ever stomach it. Way too purple, saturated and dark. Empire and Jedi fare better IMO but still look very off, so I understand how difficult it can be to correct the colors.

As much as I find the DNR distracting on the 4K UHD’s, I think they’re a far better base for a project like this compared to the 2004/2011 transfers, and if we ever do get a new Despecialized for Star Wars and Empire I’m sure they’ll look fantastic.
