Young Indiana Jones - The Curse of the Jackal & Passion for Life hybrid cut [WiP]

So, recently I have slightly re-edited one of the Young Indiana Jones films (Love’s Sweet Song) for my next rewatch of the series and I decided to make a fanedit of the first film as well.

I’m not a fan of the first five films, with 10 yo Indy, and I usually skip those, but I also think that the first one works better as an introduction to the series than Spring Break Adventure.

• The main base for the edit is the original pilot (The Curse of the Jackal) and its DVD counterpart (My First Adventure).
• I don’t like the Marroco storyline (plus, the actor who plays Indy looks significantly older there) so I decided to remove it completely and replace it with the Africa/Theodore Roosevelt part from the second film, Passion for Life (so both adventures still take place in Africa).

• I removed some short scenes from My First Adventure that, in my opinion, were redundant and were slowing down the movie.
• I added some of Old Indy’s narration from the original 90s episode in the background during the Africa closing scene to make the transition into the final bookend smooth.
• At first, I was going to use the title card from My First Adventure, making a transition to the 1990s museum opening. Then, I decided I’d come up with a new title. My ideas were The Age of Wonder and Winds of Africa.
But, in the end, I decided to name it just The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, using the original show’s logo.
• I used some shots from Paris 1908 and Petersburg 1917 bookends in order to create a new title card.

So, this edit is basically a blend/hybrid cut of the original series pilot, My First Adventure and Passion for Life.

It’s still in progress, so some things may still change and some ideas may evolve 🤠
