It will all be down to tone, the screenplay. The actor chosen. And the score and cinematography, and editing, yes the director is of importance but not chiefly. In fact, i think far too much is made of the influence of a director. Auteur theory says they run everything, well that doesn’t exist in the studio system, and certainly never existed ever on Eon productions.
I don’t think Amazon will be of much difference. There is bound to be even more corporate interference.

It’s why I said Christopher Nolan was never directing Bond because they would never cede control to him. They hire you to shoot the script they want, no question.

You’re just a hired person to shoot a movie with no real love for the craft or story, its to make a product. Like how JJ was hired for Star Trek or Star Wars.

Denis is going to find that Warners gave him more carte Blanche for Dune then James Bond will afford him. Films in the studio hierarchy become art, through mostly happy accident, as well as tenaciousness.

But the Disney cookie cutter MCU by committee, doesn’t allow art or anything resembling Cinema. And that goes for 70% of the corporate wasteland. Stagnant and long dead IP, the shambling undead.

Its only if makes money not if its good, to paraphrase Mark Hamill.
