Please do! I’ve had a crack at that scene, but it’s a very inconsistant scene, changing contrast/colour, and quality from shot to shot.
I just took another look at the scene:
The upscaling will be fairly straightforward.
Lighting and colour: each section of the scene would need to have the lighting altered and colours adjusted, so that it’s consistent throughout the scene. When I share the upscaled video, I’ll leave the colours and lighting unaltered, so that each individual editor can make their own adjustments. I will however make these adjustments for my own edit.
Rotoscoping: the rotoscoping around the actors when they walk past the window looks unfinished. Upscaling will only make that stand out much more; I think that the best solution would be to paint-out a few of the very small sections where the rotoscoping was unfinished.
Background: I originally thought that the entire cityscape background needed to be replaced, however there are only three or so sections where various ships in the background either appear out of nowhere, or suddenly jump positions. It will be easier and faster to either paint them out, or replace the unfinished sections with new traffic.
I will leave that up to each individual editor to sort out what the want to do with that. I’ll update the VFX for my own edit though.
