I can remember that there was a small picture-trailer (only static pictures with music, motion picture) for Episode 2 on the dvd.starwars.com page, before the first trailer/teaser was official released… called “Chosen” or something like this
Interesting! I think there’s a trailer for that one on the DVD release. When you say stills was it kind of like those old videos you’d see back in the day on YouTube like image compilations? Was it finished special effects? And about what time frame did it appear?

It were final pictures from the movie, partly from the set, partly from later deleted stuff (in one, Obi-Wan was fighting with a green lightsaber). I think it was released before the first trailer (Breathing) or before the second trailer (Mystery). So I would say end of 2001.
