I think with how much ai voices have improved it could probably be worth giving the “Rey is Anakin’s reincarnation” theory another go. As in, replace every mention of her being a Palpatine with a mention of her being The Chosen One / the spirit of Vader. I think the only on-screen lines that would need to be cut are “Because you’re a Palpatine” and “For my Grandchild to come home” which are things that have already been cut from some other edits. Maybe it would even be possible to edit it so that, in the scene where Kylo offers her his hand in the hangar, he’s actually holding out his mask (and he could have a line like “I spent years thinking I was the next Vader, but it was you all along. You’re the one who should be wearing this mask.”)
Edit: oooh and it would also explain why the first we see of Kylo after he asks “Who is she” is him looking to Vader’s mask for guidance. Like he’s asking “Is it true? Are you her?”
