Hi everyone! The work continues. I’ve hit some snags along the way, but I’ve been pushing through them.

I’ve been working lately on the Death Star Duel - lots of complex things going into this scene, and I wanted to get your opinion on one of them. I love Ascendant’s addition of “Duel of the Fates” here; but I thought it would be interesting to incorporate Kylo’s and Rey’s themes into the music. I originally suggested this for Ascendant back in (dear God) 2021, according to my timestamps; but I’ve gone back in and entirely remixed the track based on feedback I received back then.

I actually have two potential versions, mainly differing in the implementation of Kylo’s theme around the 1:00 mark. I’ve increased the volume from the final mix to make the music easier to hear. What do you think?

Hey Sherlock. Really looking forward to this edit.

I think Version B sounds significantly more like it was “scored to picture”. It just seems to line up better with onscreen action. That being said, I don’t love the Rey theme (what is it, bassoon or something?) at 1:14. This moment in Version A resonates better for me with what’s going on in scene.

And a side note, if you want my opinion - Finn’s repetitive “Rey!” is little annoying. I prefer Hal’s edit to a single “Rey”. Can’t wait to see the finished product!

The second Finn shout was a consequence of shuffling some shots around (kind of an interesting domino effect, actually); but I can trim the footage down and keep it to the one shout. Thanks for the note!

I agree that version B just feels more natural.

On another note, do we really need Finn’s constant interruptions? It breaks the flow and tension.
