As I told a classmate of mine 2 weeks ago, "the PT may be all hyped up and talked about, but that is only because it is new and popular. In 15 years, let's see how it holds up against the Original Trilogy. I know it is going to fall flat."
His response was a snied, "So certain are you?" The guy is a Star Wars fanatic, but he just happens to like EVERYTHING star wars. He has very little taste in movies. And having him in Theory 348 was painful. He wouldn't shut up. It was like he was fighting with the teacher so he could talk. Hey, buddy I came to this class to learn, not to hear you blather on about stuff that isn't realevant to the subject.
Sorry, got a little side-tracked there.

I look at it this way, and this is where the PT will not pass the test of time. There will always be some fans who love the PT, and SW, and the EU, and everything about it. But overall, all the fans of the PT now, will they LOVE it 20 years from now like we do? We love the OT, it is near and dear to our heart, and it is the story and the characters, cause it sure isn't the effects, because we want the supposed old & outdated editions!
The OT is timeless, hence we are all here 22 years after the last OT movie came out, and still pretty much have the same views on the saga as we did then. The PT, is new, and that newness will wear off, and the effects will be eclipsed by something in the next decade which will blow the PT movies away, and then make them outdated. Does Lucas then update those 3 movies now to keep up?
Alot of fans love the visuals of the PT, and I agree that they are great to look at in certain scenes, but that won't keep their love many years down the road. Alot of them talk how much they like the PT, but understand its faults, the bad love story, etc. You watch these movies for twenty years and the faults will really start to bother you. The OT, with Jedi having some faults, is almost perfect to me. Star Wars & ESB are just perfect films, and quality always passes the test of time.
