Hello there, I hope you are having a fantastic holiday season! Just joined for the first time; I own the extended original Blu-Ray releases of the three instalments of the trilogy, and also the new remastered extended trilogy set… Colour is better in the remastered edition, but I am still very unhappy with the grade for Fellowship of the Ring. I would be really so very grateful to own the 44rh1n’s corrected version for the extended FOTR… Would you please let me know how to access it, if it is possible to still doing so? I do not know how to PM the author (or even if he would be ok with being contacted?).
Anyway, for now… I hope you all have a wonderful New Year’s Eve, and a great start to 2025! 😃

Hi, I’ve owned all copies of these incredible movies from vhs to extended blu-ray. I was so excited for the 4k official remaster and was about to grab a copy but then I saw it at a friends house and I was utterly destroyed by how awful it was. it is undoubtedly the worst version of the movies to ever exist and I have no idea how peter jackson thought it looked fine or why he made the changes that he made. noise reduction that makes everything look fake and cgi (or blends people into the background), increased gamma that destroys certain effects (like the ringwraiths faces) and horribly dates the CGI in largescale battles.

and then I remembered this project, I remember hearing about it many years ago and sporadically following its progress and hearing about it hear and there and thought I should track it down and try and obtain a copy to dull the pain of the disappointing “official 4k extended” release.

tl;dr I’m a huge LOTR fan who made an account just to request a link. pretty please could I get a link to this amazing version?

many thanks.

New member here who’s noticed some wonkiness in the 4K HDR blurays (that DNR, oof) and has since fallen down the rabbit hole which lead me to this thread. I’ve gotta wait 7 days before I can message OP but from what I’ve seen, this looks like the ideal way to watch FOTR, despite the 4K having quite pleasing HDR (but again, that DNR, oof).

Also I did spend some time reading through the last few years’ worth of replies and it’s quite amusing to see everyone go from hopeful for the 4K blurays (let’s not forget the 4K negative scans rumor) to suspicious to cope to dissapointed. Truly, WB/New Line/PJ/the universe won’t allow us to have nice things 🙃

I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of sheer will and dedication that must’ve gone into this. And from what little browsing I’ve done up to now, this forum is full of these respectful projects. Absolute magnificence and wizardry as far as I’m concerned. As a lifelong fan of the LotR films: if I could get you a pint, I would.

Like probably many here, I’ve been bothered by the green’ish filter for a while now and simply didn’t know any better so to see even just the screenshots looking so… natural brings back memories that are precious to me.

I won’t be commenting on the technical aspects of all that’s been done here cos I’m not knowledgeable enough on it, but the screenshots speak for themselves: they look just a tad lighter than the official EE DVD shots but it also seems to bring out a bit more detail out from the darker pieces of the shots.

I sincerely hope you didn’t buy this with a great pain.
