If the final edit was larger than a SL disc, then I created both versions, yes. Ones that were SL-only straight out of the authoring program were:

Austin Powers 1-3
Tomorrow Never Dies
Elf
Blazing Saddles
Wizard of Oz
Aladdin

There may be others but those are the ones that come to mind. In other words, if it ISN'T listed here, it DOES have a DL version floating around.

Based on the number of people who are telling me they haven't actually seen the theatrical cut of Pearl Harbor, I hope you'll use this thread to discuss the real merits and drawbacks of the Pearl Harbor: Strength and Honor edit here. I was mentioning to Darth Simon how I think this is actually a genuinely good film now, but I'm obviously blinded by my involvement in the project. So I'm curious about your collective take on the following:

1) If you've only seen this version, is it a genuinely good and inspiring movie?
2) If you've seen this and either of the official versions, how do they compare?
3) Is this re-edit an improvement of a bad film, or a genuinely good film on its own?
4) If you've seen both and you saw the re-edit first, how did it affect you emotionally when you saw the official version?
5) And vice-versa -- if you saw the official version first and THEN saw this re-edit, what did you think and how did you feel?
6) What lessons can this give Hollywood?

The whole PiF thing doesn't seem to be working that well, do you have any alternate distribution methods in the works?

1) If you've only seen this version, is it a genuinely good and inspiring movie?

- I did want to watch the film as having grandparents that served in WWII and an adopted grandpa that served at Pearl Harbor but sadly the “romance” story line and cast left a bunch to be desired so it was relegated to nothing more then a TiVo suggestion.

Now having seen your edit of the film twice now with my brother he started to point out what was cut, I cannot imagine seeing the unedited version! (and I’ll be giving a copy to Grandpa Walter IF I make it to Denver this weekend!)

2) If you've seen this and either of the official versions, how do they compare?

- N/A

3) Is this re-edit an improvement of a bad film, or a genuinely good film on its own?

- From what I can tell yes it’s an improvement of a not so good film.

4) If you've seen both and you saw the re-edit first, how did it affect you emotionally when you saw the official version?

- N/A

5) And vice-versa -- if you saw the official version first and THEN saw this re-edit, what did you think and how did you feel?

- N/A

6) What lessons can this give Hollywood?

- That you need a job there!

I don't quite have the guts to send this to Bruckheimer/Bay. I'm not terribly concerned about my own a$$ since I do own the movie outright. But I do worry about bringing unneeded attention here. The hope (and admonishment) is that everybody who sees this will pick up a used copy on the cheap to properly license every re-edit they posess. But these rich Hollywood screwballs don't take constructive criticism well and love to lash out with punishment.

I've wondered if Affleck would actually appreciate this flick. Now that J. Lo is out of the picture he sounds like he's becoming a down-to-earth guy again.

Is anyone PiF any of ADM's non-SW edits? Or perhaps B&P? I'd love to get a bunch of them but am stuck in the wonderously slow world of dial-up.

ADM:

Send it to Kevin Smith. He accessible, watches a lot of flicks, and is tight with Affleck.

I'd be interested to see his reaction!

Hey ADM,
I just watched your cut of Hannibal and I have to say that I really liked it. The extra scenes with Pazzi and Hannibal were very nice. You also did a skillful job with the ending, though I have to say I probably liked the theatrical ending better. Truth be told, I much preferred the surprise ending of the novel, but since it wasn't filmed I guess I'll never see that one. Anyway, major props to you for a fine job and I can't wait to watch other edits of yours in the future.

Darth Enzo's artwork for Pearl Harbor is here. This includes cover and disc art. We've been talking about doing four different covers in this style, this one being the first. Stay tuned!

The continuity error is in how River is rescued by Simon - in the show, he said that he bought up contacts to infiltrate the "school" to get River out. They got her out and mailed her to Simon in the cryo-box-thing, and from there he could take them wherever he wanted. Mal opened the box and woke her up, and it's quite obvious in that scene that it's the first time River's seen her brother in a long time.

In the movie, he gets the contacts to help get her out, and he goes into the facility himself, posing as a member of the Alliance, and gets her out while she's awake, getting picked up by his contacts in a ship out some vent shaft thing. River also helps in the escape.

That's the error.

Hey ADM - sounds like this is legit for the HP4 DVD out at the beginning of March.

Deleted scenes from 'Goblet' DVD
Pablo of HarryLatino has heard from someone who worked on the Goblet of Fire that the following deleted scenes are to be featured on the movie's DVD:

* SCENE 1: Dumbledore asks his pupils to welcome Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students. All the Hogwarts students then start to sing the school song.

* SCENE 2: A Durmstrang student asks a girl to go with him to the Yule Ball. She says yes, and two of their friends make gestures in the background.

* SCENE 3: Harry tries to speak with Cho Chang, but as she is constantly surrounded by friends, he doesn't get the opportunity.

* SCENE 4: Flitwick introduces the Weird Sisters at the Yule Ball. The lead singer speaks with the audience and then starts the first song.

* SCENE 5: Karkaroff tells Snape about the mark of his arm. Snape ignores him and removes house points from Fawcet and Stebbins, who briefly appear in the scene. Snape doesn't care about what Karkaroff has to say.

* SCENE 6: Mr. Crouch and Harry are speaking. Mad-Eye appears and Barty quickly leaves.

* SCENE 7: The trio speak about the death of Mr. Crouch. Ron thinks that Fudge will prevent the story from leaking out to the public. Hermione believes his death, Harry's scar burning, and the Dark Mark at the Quidditch World Cup are related. She recommends Harry goes to visit Dumbledore.

* SCENE 8: The trio speak about what Karkaroff was showing Snape on his arm. Hermione asks Harry which potion ingredients Snape accused him of stealing and realizes they are the ingredients needed for the Polyjuice Potion.

Cool. huh?

Scene 8 was definitely missing. I remember thinking that something was hideously cut between the potion storeroom and the third task scene, 'cause "Bam" we were suddenly there.

I wonder if some of those are alternate scenes? Can't wait to find out!
