screams in the void: I can confirm that the colors are much more lifelike in the transmission of PAL recordings than their NTSC counterparts. The same can be said for the even rarer SECAM recordings. NTSC, perhaps, does not withstand multi-generational losses as well as most PAL standard recordings. There are plenty of examples of these on YT.

Check it Hungarian Christmas day 1984 premiere colors. 😃
ps: The only drawback is the SECAM noise band, due to the 2nd generation copy.

Indeed they are , I did a deep dive reading further into PAL vs NTSC on Wikipedia and elsewhere and PAL had more resolution as well due to more scan lines etc . What impressed me the most about the recording was its film like quality. I’m in the same camp as those who have speculated that it was taken directly from a 16mm or 35mm source . It looks to me almost like a low resolution 4k77 in regards to the texture and color grading . I’m not sure , but the reel change markers /cigarette burns in the recording also look different to me than scans of other prints I have seen , but that could be due to the 4x3 blow up . I was also fascinated by how the Crawl appears in its original aspect ratio , but squeezed into a 4x3 frame as most officially released 4x3 versions zoomed in on it , as well as the choice they made on Luke’s macrobinocular shot when the Tusken raider comes into view . I have not seen that in any other 4x3 version , though I have seen the squeezed shot in the original HBO airings . Thanks for the response and I will look into that Hungaian Christmas day 1984 premiere colors video you mentioned .
