I can see why George made the edit, but as with most changes it was over zelous. People can debate the character implications plenty, there is ofc no right or wrong answers there, but I think there is one objective issue with the original version. Why would there be a corridor, lined with dozens of blast doors, turn the corner and end in a complete dead end. Like yes the hanger is badly composited and yes the 10,000 idle troopers is silly, but man pipes? It’s a show of the limited budget and from everything Lucas has said over the years, anything that held him back, if it be money or technical limitations, seemed to irritate him. Consitantly these are areas he chooses to edit the most.
