Who gives a flying flip about the special effects? We know they'll be good. If a movie is nothing more than special effects to you, then no wonder you hated Begins. Begins was about the psychology of Batman, about what makes him tick. Not about explosions, though it had those and they were good.
rofl. you were actually making some fairly good points, but this paragraph is... never mind i don't think you have any idea what is happening in universe. with that one paragraph you basically backed up my entire arguement (which i am not sure you completely understood)
also, the top of your post was correct, i (admittedly) don't know much about batman! I don't read the comics and I didn't watch the cartoons. But, I do know film, and I know, that Batman Begins (being looked at purely as a MOVIE and not as a COMIC BOOK MOVIE) is pretty crappy, imo!! it's like LotR. regardless of how "true to the story" it is, you still have to look at it as two different things. book, screenplay. this is the same thing. comic book, screenplay. two different things which deserve to be judged completely separate of each other. And the reason I was watching it (even though i am not a SUPER HUGE BAT-FAN) is because it was obviously going to be one of the biggest hits of the summer! it's one of those movies you have to see, even if you think it's stupid (like titanic)
Also, I don't know how attempting to look at a movie from an academic point of view is NIT PICKY! Just because i have higher standards than "COOL CAR GREAT EXPLOSIONS", doesn't mean I am trying to nit pick!
