I updated my personal Canon once again. I’ve decided to abandon my Legends purism and to create a personal continuity that combines the best elements from both the EU and Disney’s Canon. I’ve also decided to get rid of the stories I never truly cared about in the first place and to include the Prequels in their movie form. Here’s my revised continuity:

I know that earlier in this thread I said I preferred the Prequel novelizations to the movies, and that’s still true. However, I included the Prequels in their movie versions because I’ve decided to drop every story that takes place after Return of the Jedi. The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that Return of the Jedi is the perfect ending for the entire Saga. The film closes on such a complete and satisfying note: the Empire is defeated, Luke rises above his fears and the pull of the Dark Side, Palpatine is destroyed, and Anakin finally fulfills the Chosen One prophecy. It just feels like the natural endpoint, and the more I rewatch the movie, the more every post-ROTJ story feels anticlimactic and unnecessary.
But the thing is, if you decide to conclude the timeline with Return of the Jedi, then it makes more sense to include the Prequels in their movie versions rather than through the novelizations. The novelizations work best only if you’re planning to continue the timeline and include stories set after Return of the Jedi, because in that case the Prequels feel like part of a larger Expanded Universe and the Original Trilogy becomes the center of gravity around which everything else turns. But if you want Return of the Jedi to serve as the final point of the whole story, then the center shifts. The core of the Saga becomes the six films themselves, and Return of the Jedi becomes the natural and satisfying endpoint that ties everything together.
