I use an application called “Backblaze” which backs up my entire computer in the background. Its cheap, backs up everything and has a restoration service that you can;

1: re-download a drive (literally in its entirety)
2: request a hard drive of your backup be shipped to you. You pay up front for the drive and can either keep it or ship it back for a FULL refund once you transfer your files back over.

I have done the hard drive request twice in the last five years when i have had drives die, its L.E.G.I.T.

While that does sound like an incredible idea, alas I’m a poor student with little money to my name! I’ve been doing this project on what is probably now a 10 year old PC and what money I’ve got goes towards what I need to edit hahaha

I’m sorry to say you probably won’t see many updates form me for a while. I’m getting married soon, with that on top of university and parental responsibilities I haven’t had much time to edit recently. Rest assured, I’ll be right back at it in time! The movie is really looking good so far!

Congrats on the upcoming wedding!

This edit sounds awesome, would you be able to send me the link at your convenience?

Mazel Tov!

I’m just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe.

Star Wars has 3 eras: The eras are 1977-1983(pre Expanded Universe), (1983-2014) expanded universe, or (2014- now) Disney-bought version. Each are valid.

My movie reviews aren’t AI, they’re just written by someone who’s Neurodivergent. If you don’t like them, then simply don’t read them.

I have now recreated all the footage I’ve lost for the episode version of the movie I’m currently putting together for Season 4! I’m very happy to have all that footage back and workable with all my edits!

And don’t worry, I’ve backed all this work up this time! If anything happens I’ll at least come back to this point again! hahaha

I’m looking for the input on a decision. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m on a mission to add the alien into star wars rebels through things such as making Alien’s speak their own language. I’m currently working on scenes with Rukh and thought initially to make him speak entirely in Honoghr. What does that sound like? I’ve got no idea but I was going to use the Dosh (Trandoshan language) as a place to start and see what I could come up with. As I researched, I found out that the Noghri can speak basic quite effectively.

So, I came up with an idea. What if sometimes Rukh speaks basic, and other times he speaks Honoghr. I’m not too sure I can connivingly pull this off yet but I thought I’d put feelers out there for this idea before I try to make it happen.

If I went with this idea, I’d obviously put some rules in that determine when he uses which language. I’m thinking at this stage it could be a respect thing. I.e., if he respects you, he’ll use your language. If not, you have to understand him.

Secondly, do you think this change would be too jarring for audiences when watching?

Love to get some feedback on this!

Thanks for the feedback justinbailey!

I was under the impression he speaks Honoghr as well as basic and AI chatbots seems to agree with me (not that that’s much of a source 😂😂😂).

I try to use both legends and canon to help inform my decisions for this edit. If you’ve got a source or reason why he can’t speak / doesn’t speak Honoghr that’d be great! I’m struggling to find a lot of information on this 😃

I do think it could be jarring however. I’ll wait to hear some more input before making a final decision on this idea but thanks again for your feedback 😃

Were there a few brief isolated moments when Rukh basically is talking to himself or thinking out loud? I think those would be natural moments for him to use his native language.

Perhaps moments when he is shouting or in shock. Personally, I think people would tend to think in their native language and use their language when angry.

Thanks for that feedback honestabe. Honestly that seems to be the most reasonable approach. If I come across Ruhk thinking (I don’t think he does) or if he’s surprised I’ll use his language. I’m hesitant to change his language when angry as I think that’ll be a touch too jarring. It hints that he can speak more than just basic (bringing back the alien) and keeps him interacting with everyone easily. So far I’ve cut most of his lines anyway as it was mostly him bickering with Pryce bahaha and that seems to have added the seriousness that I felt was missing from his character. It also makes him feel more competent (even if he’s not).

If I remember right, Rebels never uses subtitled language, even for characters we haven’t ever seen using Basic before. But who cares! It’s your edit buddy. It sounds like a nice touch, and honestabe’s idea is a good one.

I think this was generally due to the younger target audience, and works well in that context. I also agree that a little bit of native language thrown in for flavour would be a nice touch, given the aims and direction of the project. The concept gives me Firefly vibes when they slip into Chinese to utter curses or frustration.

Eddie and Daiyus that’s right! The only character in Rebels who didn’t speak basic was Tseebo in season 1 (if my memory serves). And he had Sabine translating for him. I’ve been on a mission to add in more alien language to rebels recently as I think it makes the show feel more star warsy. Forced subtitles in these moments also gives me more room for story changes (if need be). I’ve already done something like this with the first episode! 😃

So far I haven’t had a good opportunity for Ruhk but if I get a chance to have him speak his language I’m going to use it!

g00b, I would at least make a final decision by now, and you are right. I would likely not recommend having Rukh speak his non-basic language. I will let you accept this choice so that you can retain all of Rukh’s English dialogue.

Thanks for your input again justinbailey, although I don’t think I follow what you’re saying 100%.

Retaining all of Rukh’s dialogue is not my goal, most of it is bickering with Pryce which I don’t think serves either character too well. In my current work print he doesn’t say anything until he instructs Pryce that Zeb has split away from Ezra and Jai.

I don’t want to make any final decisions yet as I’m still on the phase for these episodes of playing around and seeing what I a) can change well and b) what I can do to improve the story

As I’ve been implementing this idea with minor or one off characters (making them speak their native alien language instead of basic then providing forced subtitles), I’m keeping myself open to this idea for Ruhk, though I want to retain much of his basic dialogue. As an example for these episodes, I’ve replaced the death troopers speaking basic and made them speak their cool garbled language again! To compensate for this lack of understanding, episodes that I’ve done this to come with a defaulted forced subtitles track to cover these moments so you don’t miss anything!

I am aware this decision isn’t everyone’s preference! So I try to keep these moments small and relatively non essential for the broader story.

Again, thank you for you feedback and input! I do appreciate it 😃
