I think most set-top players will handle DL DVDs - check some of your commercial DVDs; many that are DL will say so on the back. You can always check on your computer for the size of the commercial DVDs to see if they are, in fact, DL.

I'd rather not buy a DL burner if my player won't play DL, but I can't check if it plays DL without being able to burn DL. See the dilemma?

Every player I've tried handles DVD-R DL discs just fine, including older players. I would recommend against DVD+R DL discs, however. Perhaps it was the brand (Memorex), my burner (Pioneer) or my players but every DVD+R DL disc I burned had serious glitching at the layer change everywhere I tried them.

DVD+R is great, as far as I'm concerned, as long as you have the ability to bitset. And yes, Memorex is crap, I'm a big fan of Ridata/Ritek. No chance of this coming to the spleen, Citizen? It would be easier, I thought, than having everyone pelt you with requests for it...

In the years I've been into DVD I've never heard of a player not being able to play dual layer DVDs, even my several years old Creative 2x DVD-Rom can read them.

bilditup1, I'm only on a 1mb down / 256k up ADSL which isn't much good for seeding, especially when a DL trilogy will take up over 23gb. If someone has spleen seeding capabilities I'd send them a full set so they can seed whatever version they would like to upload, somehow I doubt anyone would want to seed the entire range of versions I'm producing (over 90gb!)

Anyone found the easter eggs on ANH, look in the same places for ESB & ROTJ segaflip & dark jedi now have ESB DVDs in the post to them

As far as I'm aware, only the ANH DL has been posted. The only ESB I've seen posted is the Xvid.

You can go about your business. Move along, move along.

This might have been asked previously but, will the xvid versions play on any standalone xvid capable DVD players?

Because the width of the xvid is 1024, I don't think it would play. I don't know, as I don't have a standalone xvid capable player. It was made specifically for a 1024x768 LCD projector.

No it won't, HOWEVER, what I did with my copy was to use a program called Avi2Dvd to convert it to a playable .ISO for me to burn using Nero.
It works perceftly fine & looks wonderful that way.

Hope this helps.

You're asking the impossible, I haven't finished the trilogy yet

the one I had was his NTSC version, & it looked great...actually a little better on my tv than my computer, which I thought surprising..

It's not really that surprising, the DVD versions were engineered for non 1:1 aspect ratio displays (16:9 tv) so will look better on that than a 1:1 PC display, whilst the XviDs were engineered for 1:1 displays.

Does anyone know why the NTSC version of Emire will not play more than 3 seconds on my Pioneer Elite DVD player?
The DVD will play about 3 seconds and the screen will freeze.

Dammit, I didn't know ESB was done and posted already! Some idiot listed it in the "TV" instead of "Movie" section on newzbin, so I missed the posting on new year's. I don't suppose some kind soul could repost the NTSC DVD9 for ESB on a.b.starwars?

And thanks for all the incredible work on the remaster!

Hi

I am very interested in Citizen's work and would love to get my hands on a copy! What to do?

I am interested in the PAL versions of all three movies i DL-format (although I can see only the first two are available at the moment?). If there are quality-drawbacks with the PAL-version as someone stated, I'd rather like the NTSC version (I am aware of the general differences between PAL and NTSC).
