Not to be cocky but the article by Scott Sentinella from Cashiers du Cinemart ("Only The Strong Travel This Deep" is a good resource as well. I found Sean Murphy's article lacking -- unusual for the Video Watchdog pieces wherein they compile all of the scenes in a marred film (a la FIRE WALK WITH ME).

I'd been playing with the idea of a fan edit for a while as it's my habit to watch the theatrical and TV cuts about once a month. I also have a sick habit of collecting the various releases from Brasil, France, Germany, etc. I'd be up for collecting all of the various additional docs about the making of the film into one or two discs as a supplemental to any fanedits made.

In my plans, the following would happen:

- Removal of pedantic voice-overs from the Smithee version (esp. the beginning prologue and the horrible introductions of Dr. Yeuh, etc).
- Reinstating Amidala's introdution / voice overs (otherwise, she has *one* line)
- Adding back any violence / distastfulness from the Theatrical into the Smithee ("A little bit of spittle")
- Correcting the order of the scenes where they fall out of line from Theatrical to Smithee (using Theatrical as the "proper order").
- Using the Emporor's dialogue from the Theatrical when talking to the navigator
- Removal of the extra "The water of life" on the audio track during the scene or fhe young sandworm's demise.

While I won't offer my left nut for a copy of Fanfiltration's edit, I would beg on bended knees for a copy. My wife is thoroghly unimpressed with the amount of time/energy I spend downloading and watching these edits to write about 'em (for the next issue). That might help shed some light on the subject as we watch DUNE about once a month (alternating between the Smithee and Lynch versions).

@Editors (esp. Fanfiltration) - Will this be redone come January with the non P&S bits from the new release?

And, finally, I *like* the weirding modules, BTW.
