What would you do, (say you where given creative and marketing control of the next release of the SW DVD boxset.)
1.Release a two sided disk boxset for all three movies. On one side have the Original Trilogy, on the other the SE.
2.Release a two sided disk boxset for all six movies. On one side have the Original Theatrical version, on the other the SE version.
3.Only release the OT Definitive Collection/Faces version.
4.Improve or clean up the OOT existing effects/mattes, but add nothing new (no new backgrounds, animations, ships.)
I would do number 2 (no pun intended). Except I would make a few more changes to the SE. This way, assuming I was Lucas, I could have my definitive version, while giving the audience the original versions as well. That way, they could have a choice: If they are purists, they would get what they want, plus the new versions to marvel at if they choose. If they like the changes (like I do), then they will have what they want, yet will have the original versions also, so thsat they can see the difference in the two. Plus, having two versions for each film would give me an excuse to charge more for the set, and therefore more $$$$.
