I'm half way through capturing the LDs. (Multiple captures to average).
Yesterday I bought (75 euro's damn it) a Creative Soundblaster with optical S/PDIF in on ebay so I can make a bit-accurate capture of the audio.
I still don't know what to do with the audio. A PCM track would probable be most people's choice but then the maximum video bitrate then will be +/- 8200 kbps. If I can make a DTS track (at 768 kbps) which sounds just as good as the PCM track the maximum video bitrate can be +/- 9000 kbps. I wonder if I feed the 2 channels (with matrixed surround information) of the bit-accurate capture to the DTS encoder the surround information will be preserved, or I have to make discrete channels of the PCM track and feed those to the DTS encoder. Any suggestions???
