Update: Latest reviews of this DVD, which streets Tuesday, shows that everything on the Laserdisc will be ported over. New material will be limited to anamorphic transfer of the image, DD and DTS soundtracks, and a couple introductions from Jackson. The storyboards section of the 4 hour doc have been split off from the main doc and added to disc one instead.

Well, I guess that does that.

MeBe, I suppose you should throw that LD on eBay to see if we can get some of our money back.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

LOL. If you are going to Ebay it, then I'd better send it back to you. I'm too scared to sell anything there. (I just haven't done it before, and don't want to screw up.) Personally, if I were you, I'd keep it, but that's just me. I like having laserdiscs of cool movies.

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

I would like to keep it too, but that wasn't the original deal when people donated money to get the set and get the DVD set made from it. I don't really think other people want to use their money for me personally to have a laserdisc set that I can't even play.

Why not channel the funds into another worthwhile project?

Oops, you're right. I forgot about that. I was thinking it was yours.

I'll try to send it back to you as fast as possible.

$185 was already spent, initially, on the laserdisc set. The people whose money was spent on it donated it under the impression that this project is what it would be used for and that they would recoup at least some of their expenses after re-selling the set on eBay. I'll be contacting them soon to figure out what they would like to do.

I know I probably didn't donate as much as other folks but as for me, I never expected anything back, so if another project rises from the ashes of this one it wont all be for nought.

If there's enough funds left to warrant it, you could invest it towards getting the Godfather Trilogy laserdisc set in an attempt to do the ultimate chronological cut of the GF films on DVD, as mentioned in this other thread:

http://www.originaltrilogy.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=11&threadid=3790

Back on topic though... I'm thrilled that we're finally getting a Frighteneners special edition with the great extras ported from the laserdisc. I never thought this would be officially released on DVD. It's ironic that it happens just as plans of doing a fan-rip of the laserdisc were in progress. That's just like buying a barebones DVD that's been out for years right before a special edition is suddenly announced. The same thing happened with DigitalFreakNYC's rip of the criterion laserdisc of The Game, which is now on the verge of being released officially on DVD with all the laserdisc extras ported over to it.

Is this official that the whole thing is there? I have been looking online and I have yet to find a good link to a review that covers the extras of this disc. Anyone have the link?

Hey ReverendBeastly,
Sense my contribution to this project was a no money back donation can I at least get those other disc we discussed sent out. Drop me a PM...

Just found this...

Universal finally got around to at least putting out the longer cut; the long-ass making of is nowhere to be seen, however Still, it's a great movie and we finally get to see it in pristine DVD quality That's never a bad thing!

That is from www.dreadcentral.com so I'm still thinking the US version of this is sans making of...

Perhaps a DVD of just the bonus stuff is in order at this point. I wouldn't sell just yet, we still might have something for those of us without region free DVD players.

Interesting. I don't have the scratch to go out and pick up the DVD today, or else I would and report back. Can anyone confirm or deny the complete contents ot the DVD?

The Making-of is on the other side of the DVD-18. It's just mislabeled as having the film on both sides.

How long is the Making-of on the DVD?

By the time I get off work Best Buy will be closed. I guess I'll just wait and see what happens. Let us know what it has or doesn't have after your done viewing the disc.

It's all there. go to dvd-basen.dk and scroll the reviews there, or check out the thread in the software section of hometheaterforum.com

Nothing is missing. There's at least 4 or 5 different reviews, and 3 or 4 different testimonials at HTF that stress that. THE ONLY difference is that the storyboards section of the supplementals has been pulled out of the doc and put alongside the movie itself on side a. But nothing has been lost, or deleted. It's all there.

Well thanks for the info The Bizzle. I guess this project is finally officially dead.

Author
Time
Well, depending on how much this laserdisc gets on ebay, the money might be able to get put into a different project, and that would be cool. The project's not dead--it's just shifting a little.

Have you read this thread at all? By the sounds of it, this project is being cancelled because of the recent DVD re-release.
