If you have worked on professional sound mixing for re-releases of movies, then I would like to ask you questions.

Who here has worked on professional sound mixing for re-releases on older movies. I’m know that there’s things that you can’t specifically talk about (Maybe your NDA paperwork could have said not to say anything? I’m not too sure.), but I want to know why is it modern re-releases of older films have an alternate sound mix with newer sounds? I would just like to understand why sounds that could had been used during the editing of the original release were not used. It feels very out of place hearing a modern sound in an older movie.

I already know time, budget and available reels of the origanal recordings can be an hassle. (Maybe even a lack of care at times? Idk)

I would like to hear what you have to say. Forgive me if my post seems a little too direct. I’m just a passionate (albeit a bit amature) editor.
