Can anyone with a good-looking '97 SE capture send me two scenes?
I need the original Emperor and unmasking scenes. If you have this in NTSC and can DVD Shrink or something to send me these two video clips, I would be very obliged.
Thank you very much!

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

If you are looking at NTSC then one of the Dark Jedi transfers is probably what you are after.

If you can live with PAL then the TB Release from the same source as the Ep 1 Theatrical version clip I posted a while back is gonna be even better. I think the GKar set may be even better quality.

Thanks, can anyone save me the download of 14 gigs by uploading the scenes?

The only other thing I'm having difficulty in is the Wampa, and I may need to wait for another fan edit and borrow their work. (I'm just trying to compile the absolute best from all sources. I cannot take credit for much of my edit, it's a collaboration.)

I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.

Then you will certainly not need anything from LD. The GKar releases are about as good as it gets. I've seen better, but anything better is... elusive.

If not, then does anyone know how to convert PAL to NTSC without quality loss?
I have a PAL special edition set.

Strictly speaking you can't, since NTSC has less lines than PAL, but all you need to do is resize the video from 720x576 to 720x480 in whatever editor you use, and change the framerate from 25fps to 23.976fps.

Your best source might be that PAL digital TV grab that someone posted the original Shaw-ghost scene from RoTJ from.

If that's the one with the blue box and plus sign in the upper right corner, than that's what I have.

I've tried downloading a few shareware programs to convert the video's framerate, but none of them will accept any of my MPEG f iles. Is there a simple way to slow the video down a little bit?

That's GKar, I believe.

The version you have is definitely the TB release, as thats the one I sent you.

The G'Kar release is primarily in German, and the colour is slightly off compared to the TB version - ANH in particular has a slightly pinkish hue to it.

As for shareware means of converting PAL to NTSC, you could run the MPGs, or VOBs from the DVD through VirtualDubMod set the framerate to 23.976fps, and resize the video to 720x480. And for good measure replace the blackbars with the crop filter to get rid of the CanalPlus blue box logo.
You can even frameserve it directly to TMPGEnc for reencoding to MPEG2 if need be.

Oh, yeah: TB. You're right -- GKar's the other one. I'm getting my DVB versions mixed up. That's what you get from rolling out of bed and immediately posting something...

Well thank you, I will try the shareware later when I get home.

Believe me, the original Emperor and Shaw's eyebrows are worth it.

Hmm... does virtualdubmod always resize the video strangely? Maybe it's the mpeg conversion to AVI, but the video is very low quality and strange.

Anyone know how to do this properly?

Use dgindex, write an .avs, and then open in VDubMod.
