Most releases of Iron Man, with the sole exception of the IMAX Enhanced version on Disney+, replace a photo of Iron Man on the front page of The Chronicle at the end because of a rather complicated lawsuit filed by a leaker over that photo.

I never knew about this. Kind of a crazy story, it’s weird that it’s on the new D+ version.

It’s not just the D+ version, it’s on ALL home video versions, the original photo is exclusive to the theatrical versions

Best to use Google Translate for the Germerman site, I take it? Not just censored, but alterations. Which I don’t count if the movie received an alternate title card or whatever overseas. Helps with alternate versions on disc, and seamless branching. AND of course the various fan restorations, even the upscales which unfortunately remove the beloved film grain.

I know this thread is basically dead but going back to this old post I figured I would chip in on this film again since I recently got the Blu-ray. While the Blu-ray still uses the Columbia version (it is a Sony release afterall) I noticed something interesting with the end credits. First off it uses the end credits from the Paramount version since Paramount is credited first with the copyright and additionally the Columbia logo at the end fades in a second or two later than it had before.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 alters some of the CGI to be a bit more polished, and to have extra animations.
Tails also yelps “Yay! Hugs!” at one point, which he never did in the theatrical version.

And also, Thor: Love and Thunder patched the infamous Axl floating head, in an attempt to fix it.
It just made it look worse, according to most people.

And each Rebuild of Evangelion (Shin Evangelion Theatrical Edition) film gets altered with each new release, and the original theatrical cuts are not available anywhere.
Because of this, many of the differences with the original versions are unknown, though the title does get updated with each new release.
So far, there are:

  • 1.0 (original theatrical release of the first film)
  • 1.01 (updated DVD version of the first film, now OOP as the later 1.11 version has been released on DVD as well; only released in HD in France and Spain as a bonus with the 1.11 Blu-ray)
  • 1.11 (further updated Blu-ray version of the first film, taken from the original 720p files instead of a 35mm printout)
  • 2.0 (original theatrical version of the second film)
  • 2.22 (updated Blu-ray version of the second film)
  • 3.0 (original theatrical version of the third film; includes a prologue short film)
  • 3.33 (updated Blu-ray version of the third film; prologue short film has been removed from all international releases, but the Japanese releases keep it)
  • 3.333 (further updated IMAX Enhanced 4K UHD version of the third film; prologue short film is not present even in Japan)
  • 3.0+1.0 (original theatrical version of the fourth film, also released on 4DX/MX4D and IMAX)
  • 3.0+1.01 (updated last run theatrical/Amazon Prime Video version of the fourth film, never released on IMAX and 4D formats)
  • 3.0+1.11 (further updated IMAX Enhanced 4K UHD version of the fourth film, not out yet)

The IMAX 1.90:1 theatrical version of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) fixes the editing error of Norman Osborn’s face reveal, which takes place in a street alley. In the original IMAX version, the camera fully pans up to his face unmasked, rather than cutting to the Green Goblin mask for two seconds before cutting back (and forth) to Norman’s face in the standard version.

This error is still present on the DVD, Blu-Ray, 4K UHD and all streaming releases of the film, including the recently leaked IMAX version from Sony’s Bravia Core streaming service.

I understand it must be a challenge to take analog sound and digitally get the same result. So many small details! Scratching, hissing, and popping on the audio is not what was intended. Film and Video Tape deteriorate like crazy.

In the theatrical release of Everything Everywhere All At Once, Jenny Slate’s character is credited at the end as “Big Nose” (with quotation marks).
The home video release, however, would change her character name to Debbie the Dog Mom.

Streaming and digital versions of Juno changed Elliot Page’s credit as to not deadname him. Now this is a change I actually really love that they did and can get behind, even if it is a minor change, all things considered.
I just wonder if recent Blu-ray prints quietly changed the credits too… it is not likely but it is possible.

The Blu-ray and 4K UHD release of Godzilla Minus One changed some of Godzilla’s roars (most notably when he is mutated by the Operation Crossroads nuke). In the original theatrical release, Godzilla uses his 1954 roar that is used throughout the film; but in the home media release, his roar is changed at some points.

The home media release only changes Godzilla’s roar in the Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital EX 6.1 mixes, but the Dolby TrueHD/Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 mixes still use the theatrical mix.

The alternate mix was also apparently used for the theatrical release of Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color, and it was apparently an intentional change, not a mixing/authoring error.

Underworld (2003) It was released as an extended cut a while after the theatrical version and len wiseman the director claims it can be considered a directors cut after 20 years.

On the Bluray release of the extended cut now swaps a sequence about the history from the third film which is a prequeal regarding werewolf and Vampire Love affair which was halted and the betrayal there of a new breed of immortal. This was similar but they choose to use the actual prequal instead of the original shoot depicting the back story. Not too naughty but still a change.
