The difference b/w nvidia and ATI chips is architectural. The GeForce is like having a mini motherboard dedicated exclusively to graphics, while ATI chips tend to use more of the resources of the main processor for graphics processing. In other words, I can't answer your question without knowing what kind of processor you're using. GeForce chips work really well with AMD processors and Intel Celerons because they don't tax the processor as much; ATIs are better with P4s.
