To clarify , I use a VHS/DVD recorder and burn the vhs recording to a dvd and then run that dvd on my laptop using VLC allowing me to play with the aspect ratio . One could repeat the process for further refinement . Might help to add in a retrotink scaler and something like topaz ai to clean it up . Haven’t tried it but would like to if I had the cash to buy those tools
