I think Qui-Gon is one of the best prequel characters created, but I would have changed things around, Obi-Wan should have been a more developed character, rescued the Queen by himself, escaped the invasion, remembered an old former Jedi named Qui-Gon and sought out his help on remote Tatooine to hide out(like Han remembering Lando in ESB)......Qui-Gon has a son (Anakin, who btw should have been Luke's age) since an 8-9 year old boy and a (14?) year old girl hardly make for plausable or interesting romance outside of a sappy Disney video.

To make a long story short, the Queen and Anakin would echo Han and Leia's love/hate relationship, Qui-Gon and Anakin end up joining Obi-Wan on his crusade......no Gungans, no Midichlorians, no Immaculate conception and the Mandalore would have been the Invasion army not the droids..ect.
