Rank the changes made to the OT from worst to best (or least worst?)

How would you rank all the changes made to the OT in both the special edition and DVD versions? Rank as many or as few of the changes as you'd like.

Here is my list of changes from worst to best:

1. Greedo shooting first. Aside from the fact that Greedo is blind, Han is shown getting his blaster ready under the table, so George's reasoning for the change doesn't make sense. If he never had the intention to shoot first, why was he getting ready to shoot?
2. Changing Boba Fett's voice. For whatever reasons, Boba Fett is a cult favorite and changing the character's voice was just stupid.
3. CGI Jabba in Star Wars. Blech.
4. Luke's screem in Empire, which was thankfully cut out.
5. Hayden at the end of Jedi.
6. The scream of "Weesa free!" at the end of Jedi, which is very hard to hear, but still like nails on a chalkboard.
7. Deleting "where's my shuttle" and the shots of Vader's shuttle flying back and then landing on the bloody Death Star from Jedi!!!!! This totally disrupted the flow of the scene and takes away some of the tension in the scene.
8. The entrance to Mos Eisley. Was that supposed to be funny?
9. Ian McDiarmid in ESB- interesting idea, but hated the new dialogue plus the Emperor seemed to be drunk.
10. The extended celebration in Jedi and the removal of the Ewok song
11. the explosion "rings"
12. the cgi wampa
13. cgi sarlaac pit
14. cgi cloud city changes made when Lando makes his evacuation announcement on Cloud City
15. cgi effects during the battle of Yavin
16. the scene with Biggs added in

I left out some of the smaller changes (like the Falcon taking off from Mos Eisley, the new shots of Obiwan's house and the Sandcrawler)
George Lucas was seduced by the dark side. The OOT ceased to exist in his mind and became the Special Editions...." "They're more maching now than movies. Twisted and evil."

yeah, i def. agree with the list here. but, i think the inclusion of Hayden in ROTJ was really the one thing that put me over the edge in my hatred for old George.
i'd probably say

1. the new song scene in jabba's palace
2. hayden in Rotj
3. greedo shooting first
4. deletion of ewok celebration song
5. inclusion of celebration bullshit cgi
6. jabba in New Hope

i just thank the maker that i have the VHS copies, and the original soundtracks.

The only change that I think improved the movie at all was the Biggs scene.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Well, Adam's never actually watched the Clive Reville/monkey-woman emperor scene, so......yeah.

Actually, I saw part of it on the "The Story of Star Wars" bonus disc. It sucked compared to Ian's performance.

Now let's dissect that:

"I saw part of it on"

I rest my case.

I saw PART OF "2001: A Space Odyssey". I fell asleep, it sucked so bad.

Now the truth comes out. What about Sebastian Shaw's ghost, did you ever see that?

Most retarded changes:

- Hayden as Anakin's apparition
- Greedo shooting first/at the same time/the Han dance
- Boba Fett's voice overdubbed (he used to sound so cool)
- Jedi Rocks
- Extraneous Jabba scene in ANH
- The Vader shuttle scene
- The new dialogue in the Vader/Emperor scene in ESB

Dishonourable mention must go to the beak in the Sarlacc pit - but at least it didn't change the storyline. I probably could have dealt with all the other changes quite easily, but Hayden's insertion really pushed me over the edge and forced me to find this website.
MTFBWY. Always.

You forget, I've seen the Special Editiopns, so yes, I've seen Sebatian Shaw. And, looking at the saga as a whole, he's really out of place as Anakin. Why anyone likes him so much is beyond me.

Because he is a damn well better actor than Hayden Christensen, and will put in better performance than he ever will, oh I forgot Hayden wasnt filmed it was just a costume test, wasnt it...

Because Shaw was there first. Sole reason.

From worst to best.

Hayden
Greedo shoots first (and, apparantly, is a worse shot than the stormtroopers! How'd he survive as a bounty hunter anyway?)
Fett's voice
Jabba
Naboo at the end
Really, anything that changed the timing of the films. The films were brilliantly edited and never slowed down (well, Jabba's palace excluded). IF the changes had merely been cosmetic, I could have dealt with that.

No, he was very aware that this was specifically for ROTJ. He confirmed it in an interview with AOL.

Before the DVDs were released, it was always reported that he was completely surprised when he found out he had been put in ROTJ. And the reason that Shaw works better is because he was the redeemed Anakin inside the suit when he died. No Shaw, no redemption, no point to your so-called Tragedy of Anakin Skywalker.

Well, if you've seen the interview that moviefone had with him and Lucas, he fully acknwoledges that he knew exactly what he was filming.

adam most people on these boards wouldnt mind if the prequels slightly revised the OT if they were any damn good! get a clue.

by they way the special editions all suck and have sucked since i first saw them in '97.

ian mcdiarmad in esb wouldve been cool if he didnt remind me how much i hate the prequels, with him all bloated and catatonic telling vader that luke is his son when vader should know that already and how would the emperor know anyway and why would a sith lord who follows the rule of two as established in the prequels send another sith who thinks the same way (not to mention hes related to him) out to convert him?
Author
Time
The 97 SE's weren't that great. It was the 2004 changes that I really like. Most of the 97' ones suck, especially Greedo shooting first.
Author
Time
ian mcdiarmid sucks in esb just because he looks bloated and catatonic, and the fact he has to tell vader that the skywalker hes looking for is his son, what? also the fact that in the prequels it was established that there could only be two sith, why would the emperor send vader out to get luke when vader would try to convert him (which he did) espescially since vader was related to luke, what a gamble for such a master designer of everything in the PT
Author
Time
Well, Lucas explained that The Emperor wanted Luke to kill Vader and become his apprentice, and Vader wanted Luke to kill the Emperor and Luke become Vader's apprentice. So, yeah, it all still works the same.

Plus, this would help explain why Vader knows who Luke is at the beginning of ESB, but acts like he's shocked when Palps announces it to him.
Author
Time
why would the emperor risk having vader turn luke? since that means the emperor could easily be defeated and replaced
