Below you’ll find a link to a guide I put together while working on the subtitles for EddieDean’s Clone Wars Refocused project. It’s got some specific information I wouldn’t necessarily use in other projects (like timing the subtitles to framerate) but in general serves as a decent guide on how to use SubtitleEdit (a free open source software) to generate subtitles for any video file.

The guide is currently broken down into four steps

  • Step One: Subtitle Edit
  • Step Two: Using Subtitle Edit
  • Step Three: Breaking down the UI
  • Step Four: The Clone Wars Refocused Specifics

This guide is only intended as an introduction to SubtitleEdit but I’m happy to add more information to it or cover any topics anyone is interested in. I hope someone finds this worthwhile 😃
