I have now watched both episodes of smudger’s Bad Batch edits. I reviewed the first episode on the first page of the thread. My view on the second episode is very similar to the first - a truly great job yet again. Unlike the first season of the Bad Batch where I did watch portions, I came in completely blind to the second season.
Overall, I felt the second season edit had portions where the “highs” were better than the first, but the “lows” were lower. The first season’s edit had more consistent quality throughout. I felt the most lackluster portions were perhaps the first half hour of the episode. I did feel like it was a bit of a slog (I was not impressed by the killer crabs), but the material was necessary exposition setting up the remaining material, which was excellent. In fact, the further I went through the movie, the more locked in I became. The intensity just kept escalating until we get a nice little surprise at the end.
No spoilers, but there is what I considered a shocker in this. I do not want to ruin it for those who did not watch it. I was vaguely aware of a surprise from reading reviews of the second season before watching.
For a first-time ‘casual’ viewer, I was never confused as to what was going on. There could be continuity errors with all the cuts made, but I usually do not pay close attention to those. I also came away impressed with the sprinkling in of the Crosshair story with the rest of the Bad Batch characters rather than keeping then separate like was done in the actual show. It kept all the characters feeling connected to each other.
This is strongly recommended for any Star Wars fan.
