I have both the bluray and a vhs copy of Lord Of The Rings. It should be a simple edit. I’ll do it
sometime this week when I have time.
I hadn’t noticed the change in the narration at the end. I did replace the audio from my Return Of The King
and Hobbit animated movies with the VHS audio because there were a bunch of missing sound effects.
I have Asterix and Cleopatra with English audio and full screen in HD but I don’t know if there is missing
footage. Could you tell me what to look for?

Versions I found online tended to be missing two things. Ironically WHICH thing they were missing is different between versions. They’re both right near the beginning of the movie though.

This Youtube upload claims to be from a DVD source. Right as the video begins there’s this slab with producer credits–for some reason, full-frame uploads I’ve found have lacked this.

But what’s missing from this upload (and any others I’ve found that include the English dub) comes at the end of the opening credits, when it zooms in on that drawing of a lighthouse. In the original French there’s a sort of “transitional” thing where it goes between art styles before finally settling on the normal look for the movie. Here though, its replaced by a fade transition.
