Can someone explain to me Star Wars: Galaxies?

OK, I'm soon to be a new user of this game, which, from what I hear, seems to be an incredible experience. First off, what's the gameplay like? Where can I buy the complete package with all upgrades, etc included? Can you really live your ultimate star wars fantasy?

SWG blows. You're better off going with KOTOR or something. I couldn't stand SWG, it was just waaaaaay too flawed for my taste. Plus the combat system sucked.

Yeah, I've heard about the flaws. After checking Amazon.com, the new SWG starter pack alone had an average customer rating of 1 star. Ouch.

Save your money, dude. I played it and it sucks. And I never played a MMORPG before in my life. Boring and tedious.

I'm looking for a game that is "GTA3, Star Wars style," and it looks as if SWG would allow me to do just that. Will it?

You'd be better off looking for Star Wars mods for GTA 3.

Vice City is better anyway.

I've seen some of those mods. Very strange. As far as the GTA games go, I prefer San Andreas. Mainly for the ability to fly planes (even though technically you can in GTA3, my second favorite.).

I like Vice City best mainly for the plot and the atmosphere (gameplay is a given). I mean, San Andreas has The 'Hood, while Vice City has The Mafia. Plus Ray Liotta is the main character. It's basically an interactive version of "Scarface".

And I love blasting that '80s soundtrack!

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Hell yeah! Especially the Rock station: Judas Priest, Slayer, Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Twisted Sister, Megadeth, Motley Crue.......what more could you ask for???

Of course, my favorite radio station in GTA 3 is "MP3 Player"

Exactly! I mean, a game where you control Ray Liotta playing a mafia hitman, riding a car while listening to "Owner of a Lonely Heart" MUST be one of the best games around. To me, San Andreas was very disapointing, Vice City was the best GTA game ever, and one of the best game plots and dialogues I've ever seen.

Ray Liotta explaining why he decided to work on GTA Vice City: "For the money."
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

I think it'd be perfect to have GTA:SA's landscape, the mountains are a blast, and the sheer mass of it all, but with GTA: VC's theme. I pop in Vice, and the landscape is boring to ride around on compared to San Andreas, no hills, it's all flat.

I like the GTA games, but the targeting system still sucks after three tries, it seriously needs an overhaul. If any of you have played "The Warriors," they need add some of it into the GTA series: the fighting system, breaking into cars, smash and grabs, drug dealing. It all seems to fit into the theme of GTA. Also, using the ability to take cover from fire and return fire would also be nice, ala "Man Hunt".

With the next consoles right here, and around the corner, should be pretty fun to see what they come up with ... although, the series is getting a little old.
