Lucas's future changes for the OT to come... (with quotes)

I found this on TFN:

“George is certainly leaving stuff unchanged for a future release. Just read “THE MAKING OF STAR WARS REVENGE OF THE SITH”. It actually tells of his process of the DVDs during the production. He would go and view the DVDs in a theater to look for things that have to be improved and how Lowry Digital cleaned the films. He even said that in a sequence in ESB, the Bespin city would be redone for future releases so look for that. I just can’t see him looking over major errors like the lightsabers especially if he watched them in a theater. But just read the book and you can tell that he is saving many changes for a final release. I believe the 2007 DVDs or Hi-def DVDs will be the final absolute version.”

“The original Star Wars was a joke, technically,” Lucas commented. “I had to make a movie that normally would have cost ten times what it finally costs, and so I had to cut corners and cheat and make it kind of fuzzy so you couldn’t see what was going on. In addition, most of twhat we did on Star Wars, in technical terms, had never been done before. It was all prototype stuff and, consequently, it wasn’t very good. But Star Wars worked as a story, and that was what I cared for. Same with this movie. As long as the effects were good enough that people wouldn’t be aware of technical flaws or inadequacies, then the story was being told. As long as it didn’t interfere with the story, it was good enough for me.” - Mythmaking: Behind the scenes of AOTC

Well said!!! I personally dont really give a crap what changes he makes now, the only way I may go anywhere near the 2007 set if the originals are on it....

If he ever releases the originals, I don't care what he does anymore to these movies. In fact as most on this webpage, I bought the 2004 DVD, and won't be buying any release except something with the originals on it.

Myself, I'm looking forward to owning the archival editions. I'm excited to see what changes/corrections/additions/removals will be in his definitive versions. Also, I'm excited in that this final release should give the saga a feeling of unity, and give it a proper closure, 30 years after it began.

I don't think 'Definitive' is in George Lucas' dictionary, and if it is, it doesn't mean the same thing it means to the rest of us.

War does not make one great.

Hopefully one day, his definitive (in our terms, of course) version will finally arrive. If not, Rick McCallum might attempt to take over after Lucas dies!

Exactly, the only thread really worth reading there is the Basher Sanctuary and the only one I would really bother posting in and yes this really the only decent S.W site..

All those guys at TFN talk about is "What if" or "Why?" or stuff like that. Never thinking for themselves, apparently.

HAHAHAHA!!! This is a very ironic post here because I am the very person who posted that message on TFN.com I am a member here as well. I was basically telling people what I read from the Making Of Star Wars Revenge Of The Sith. George Lucas does mention a sequence in ESB(The Cloud City fly-by scene) that he wants to be redone for future releases. He watched the films in theaters and looked at how well Lowry Digital cleaned them up. Just read the book, it tells you all about. I'm very glad to know my post has peaked interest in other forum groups as well.

What else does he mention that he plans to work on? He's got several glitches that need tending to for the next release that I'm concerned about.

I can't wait either! the next release is going to be great. Here's what I want.

Replace Greedo with jar jar. Then the misfire will make perfect sense.

Show leia stripping off her rebel clothes and putting on that night gown in rotj, if it was filmed of course. If not, just get someone to do a body double and never show her face for more than a second or two.

Fix the dvd mistakes erase the emp's slugs. Make anything that looks too cgi more real. Realize it.

Replace Hamill with Jake lloyd, he's old enough. Replace Jame's earl jones, he sounds too good. Hayden would do it betterer because he's younger and more powerful.

Make a scene where the ewoks are buried and show that they have magic body armor piercing arrows so that whole thing makes sense.

Make luke's fight against vader in rotj not look so pathetic. It's powerful stuff, but after the pt, the baseball bat swinging thing just doesn't cut it anymore. cgi it. realize it. sell it. That's the way.

And give R2 cutesy little sounds so he's more P.U. ish and make the ot more P.U. ish overall by adding background animations of stuff like extra wampas having a party during the hoth battle, then being stepped on by one of the At -At's feet and killed.

He big in nothing important in good elephant.

"Miss you, I will, Original Trilogy..."

"Your midichlorians are weak, Old man." -Darth Vader 2007 super deluxe extra special dipped in chocolate sauce edition.

Now THAT'S one change I don't think any of us would complain too much about! At least it could be a DVD deleted scne!

If he could remove Gayden from Jedi, that would be good

But he won't. He likes Hayden. It's now part of his "vision."

I know your list was not to be taken seriously, but I would not be opposed to some alteration/extension of the RotJ duel. Both fighters seem to have regressed since ESB, and the fight itself is very short. It is THE climactic confrontation of the saga after all.

Eh, I have no problems with it. To be sure, the duel from Empire is still my favorite, but I always understood why the Return fight wasn't as good, simply because Luke was more mature, trying to save his father, blah, blah, blah. I always understood it to be more of a psychological battle, and the emotions still ran high in it. Of course, I suppose that maturity and non-aggression theory kinda goes out the window with the prequels showing every Jedi in the known universe indiscriminately kicking ass. But the few seconds where things are intense blow every lightsaber-based activity up to that point away.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.
