It's the characters, their stories, what they think, feel, do and have to deal with that work so well. Vague concepts like, what was luke like when he was racing all over the place shooting womprats in his t-16, can't and wouldn't work on their own because it lacks an interesting family dynamic these characters we love have. And there's no jar jar too, yay.
