I'm sixteen, and I've been reading the HP books since I was in fourth or fifth grade. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that would go against my Catholic beliefs, or any other Christian beliefs for that matter. Heck, my mother has read them and enjoyed them too. The only people that seem to have a problem with them are the ones that don't know anything about them.

Sure, they use magic, but the magic in the books is no different than Gandalf and Saruman's magic in LOTR, really. Only the bad wizards use the bad spells, the students in the schools just learn how to magically unlock doors and things of that nature.

Yet there is a member of this very forum who will not let his children see the movies or read the books untill they are 18. 18!

And yet they will probably be allowed to read "Catcher in the Rye" in freshman or sophomore year in high school (like I was required to do for English class). I kinda find that funny.
