The way these free download sites work, is you upload the file and the site owner has a set of restrictions placed on the content you've uploaded. YSI.com might only allow for 10 downloads, other sites put a cap on the amount of content distributed (1/2 gig). The person who uploads the file will not be told one way or the other if the file has been downloaded. What probably happened is the first YSI-Link you made was downloaded and reached it's restriction, at which point it goes offline. To keep things alive, the people who've downloaded have to reupload.

Another option is creating your own bittrrent tracker. There is an open source one called http://blogtorrent.com/. You need access to a webserver and the ISP might have some restrictions, but they've made the installation relatively simple, and set up is less painful then a full blown bt tracker.

There are other tracker sites besides demonoid.
