I'm going to play the nice guy here for a change, and cut you some slack. What can I say? It's the fucking holidays and you've caught me at a weak moment.
You're forgiven for your ignorance, you're still a kid growing up. I can dig that. You seem like a genuine kid who at least may be interested in film, so here's what you're going to do.
Go out this weekend and rent some Kubrick films. I think you should see them in this order:
Paths of Glory - Great film about taking a stand against authority in the face of atrocity.
Spartacus - Hands down on of the greatest films ever.
Dr. Strangelove - Very, very, poigniant - especially today.
Barry Lyndon - It's boring, but did you know Kubrick invented a camera lens to register actual candlelight in film?
Full Metal Jacket - Put aside the praise it's received for a couple of hours, and watch it critically.
Eyes Wide Shut - Watch this if you need to know what I meant when I said he was overrated.
I would also suggest Lolita and Clockwork Orange, but I'm not too sure you're emotionally ready for those yet.
Let me know what you think.
