Sweetness! I've gotta tell a friend. Is this Region 1?

Answered my own question... Region 2 only.

Clearly Anchor Bay has been taken over by the tall man and his minions. Don't open that box!
I would really love to see that set released in the states, but the video rights to the films are split up. MGM has the original and Oblivion. (Both DVD's out of print?) Universal apparently still owns II and III, and no DVD's in sight!

I have this set slated for purchase myself. It's limited to 20000 units so don't wait too long to order it. This is R2 PAL, so make sure that isn't a problem. All 4 films are fully uncut (unlike the prior UK releases) and are 16:9 with DTS! This is THE set to own if you like these movies. Here's the stats:

Disc I: Phantasm

Widescreen (1.85:1) Presentation Enhanced for 16x9 TVs Stereo 2.0 Optional 5.1 DTS English Subtitles for the Hard of Hearing Audio Commentary with Director Don Coscarelli and Stars Michael Baldwin, Angus Scrimm and Bill Thornbury Introduction by Angus Scrimm Deleted Scenes (10 mins) Original Theatrical Trailer Behind the Scenes Footage Biographies

Disc II: Phantasm II

Widescreen (2.35:1) Presentation Enhanced for 16x9 TVs Stereo 2.0 Optional 5.1 DTS English Subtitles for the Hard of Hearing Commentary with Director Don Coscarelli and Stars Angus Scrimm and Reggie Bannister Introduction by Angus Scrimm TV Spots Theatrical Trailer Image Gallery Biographies

Disc III: Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead

Widescreen (1.85:1) Presentation Enhanced for 16x9 TVs Stereo 2.0 Optional 5.1 DTS English Subtitles for the Hard of Hearing Audio Commentary with Stars Michael Baldwin and Angus Scrimm Deleted Scenes Theatrical Trailer Image Gallery Biographies

Disc IV: Phantasm IV: Oblivion

Widescreen (1.85:1) Presentation Enhanced for 16x9 TVs Stereo 2.0 Optional 5.1 DTS English Subtitles for the Hard of Hearing Audio Commentary with Director Coscarelli and Stars Angus Scrimm and Reggie Bannister Biographies

Disc V: Bonus Features

See, a set like that is unlikely to happen in North America, unless Sony and Universal can make nice and licence to a 3rd party, like what looks to be the case in this region 2 release.

That being said, without question this is one of the coolest packaging ideas since the Japanese release of the Alien Quadrilogy.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Not yet, but it has been mailed out. I doubt these films will ever be released in the USA like this, as they seem to be more popular in Europe.

I just received it today, it is a great set. The DTS is good, not great, but that has more to do with the source material-these aren't exactly $50 mil. blockbusters. I haven't ever seen 2 & 3 in widescreen since there hasn't been a domestic DVD release, and there may never be from the looks of things. This is the best release by far, I can't really imagine any potential future release topping it.

Yes, there's a Hellraiser set also made by Anchor Bay with the theatrical releases (1-3) and a bonus disc in a cube that folds out. It's very similar to the Phantasm set, WS, uncut, DTS etc.

i got the puzzle box for my birthday last april, and hands down, it is the best hellraiser release ever...i just wish that they would have added a cut of Bloodlines that incorporated some of the deleted footage.
