Striking writers in Hollywood reach ‘tentative deal’ - BBC News

'Studios union confirms ‘tentative’ deal:

While writers union members have been celebrating a possible end to the lengthy strike, the big studios have been somewhat tight-lipped.

The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) is the body which represents the studios, having bargained on their behalf throughout the period of industrial action.

And AMPTP was concise in its joint statement with the WGA.

“The WGA. and AMPTP have reached a tentative agreement,” is all it said.’

'SAG-AFTRA expressed its “heartfelt congratulations” to negotiators from the Writers Guild of America (WGA) for striking a deal with studio bosses - the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).

In a post on X – formerly known as Twitter – the actors union said it applauds “your dedication, diligence, and unwavering solidarity over the last five months.”

The union added that it remains ready to resume its own negotiations with AMPTP, as the actors’ dispute remains unresolved.’

That is some good news, I hope the writers got what they wanted, and that the actors also will.
