so you like the audio problems that are associated with the discs not to mention how they messed up on the lightsaber colours?
got a real star wars fan here...

its amazing how the Lucas learned to fuck up his one and only money making franchise...
(we all know Indiana Jones was Spielberg's movie... hell Lucas was in charge of Temple of Doom and we all know how that turned out)

No, not the fuck ups. I'm referring to the GOOD changes (Hayden as Anakin, Ian as Palps, better CG Jabba in ANH, Greedo and Han shooting at almost the same time, etc.)

Greedo and Jabba are just bandaides to open wounds that Lucas made the first time he took his butcher's knife of regret to the trilogy.

True. The SE Greedo and Jabba in ANH were horrible. The reason I called them good was becuase they were improvements over the SE versions.

since when the fuck is that a good change

Well, to me it was a GREAT change. It got rid of Shaw, who I greatly dislike as Anakin.

I wanted to post something about Star Trek vs Star Wars, but with Adam around, every thread devolves into the same discussion

As bing a SW fan I am, I'll watch Star Trek anytime. They're pretty even in my mind, but there's just so much Star Trek....it's so much more all-encompassing.

In a related note, anyone watch "How William Shatner Changed the World" last night?

I'm not that in to ST. TNG was OK, but, the rest was boring to me. SW is much, much, much more interesting.

I like Star Trek. I've never understood why there is such the rivarly between the two franchises. The original cast was the best, but TNG was good. Voyager was ok as well, but not quite up to the previous shows. Unfortunately, it seemed to have fell victim to "cash-in on a good name" and the result was the horrible show Enterprise. They figured that they had such a dedicated following that they could slap any old peice of junk show together and it would be a hit. I'm really afraid that will be the fate of the Star Wars TV series, but that is for another thread...

I'm really looking forward to the SW TV series! He said if it is successful, then he might do a KOTOR series.

In fact, here's the link to that short interview where he says it:

That is quite a few ifs, there, before we see KOTOR, the series.

There's no rivalry in my mind. They're both awesome. I agree with you in your assessment of the series (even your exclusion of DS9), but I've always had an affinity for TNG. I grew up with it, and I always found it more intellectual than the original series. That being said, Kirk et al had the better adventures!

I did forget DS9. My mistake. I never really got into DS9, so I always forget about it. But I know people did like it, so it had to have been good, but that one just wasn't my thing.

so because you dislike Shaw... that means that it was a just cause for them to take Shaw out of the movie?

good reasoning..

Bumped for relevance.

And for those of you who didn't know (all three of you), Ingo Sucks was the former screenname of Zigfried.

Heh, I'd forgotten this thread (and Ingo, for that matter) was so long ago. Now that I've actually become a Star Trek fan, this thread holds some form of interest to me. And now that my girlfriend has developed a huge crush on Spock... well, I'm lonely... ^_~

I'm assuming there is a bit of an age gap between her and Spock not that implies anything.

I mention it because some people seem to think there is something 'strange' about being attracted to (even in crush form) people who are older than yourself.

My 'squeeze' is 11 years my senior and my cousin, well his wife is older than his mother, sure it's unusual but if we jumped to conclusions about everything unusual where would we be then?

I don't eat spam myself but I used to enjoy spam fritters during school dinners.

You shouldn't date your cousin.

Also, you replied to something nearly four years old, and things change...
