Well, he was able to do exactly what he wanted to do with the PT, but not with the OT.
Another change I want are the "birth of the rebellion" and "Exiled to Dagobah" scenes reinserted into ROTS.

Geez, man! They're in the deleted scenes. They went to the trouble of adding in all the effects and even scoring them! They're not these hidden treasures. They're right there. They simply don't fit into the movie. I liked the birth of the rebellion scenes, but the pacing of the second third of the movie would drag so much if they were put back in. And the Exiled to Dagobah scene is probably the most wasted 30 seconds ever! I loved the scoring of Yoda's theme on it, and I like it as a deleted scene, but there's just no point to it. Watching the pre-scene commentary for it, I agreed with Lucas for probably the first time in a few years: "There's no need to show it. We all know where he ends up. I wanted to keep the focus on the kids." And I was forced to shout an angry "Shut up, Lady!" at Rick McCallum when he was blabbering on about how, "If George tinkers with the films some more... *winkwinknudgenudge*" Shut up, Lady!
