If you get a chance, have a look at 00:40:34. Is it just me or does the grain from the UHD has some weird artifacts around yoda?
The UHD Blu-ray is unfortunately plagued with frozen grain all over the place, so there’s no chance of really fixing that short of scrubbing whatever grain is left and regraining and that would destroy even more fine detail.
I lied about not seeing anything else.
In 3.0, I noticed a mid-wipe grading shift at 1:21:38. Not sure if theatrical or not.
Also, did you take a look at the Boba Fett flyby? I know it’s supposed to look janky, just want to be sure none of that is due to source problems.
The mid-wipe grade shifts are definitely part of the original - they are very obvious in all the 35mm versions, including the raw scan I have. I did try to make them a little less distracting but I don’t want to go as far as masking elements and such.
EDIT: Actually, for this specific one, you’re right, it doesn’t come from the 35mm! Thanks for pointing it out!
The Boba shot is also definitely supposed to look like that.
